The darkest hours.
No one is awake. Well, not many people at all.
Even less people are moving, on their feet, getting it done at this hour.
There is an energy in the darkness that can only be understood once you have experienced it.
This week was the last build week before I Join Sean Bell as he sets off for his incredible run around Australia.
A double marathon a day for 170 days.
With a goal to raise $1.4million for make a wish foundation.
Wtf.
But, reflecting on this week and in particular this morning has me deeply grateful.
Knowing I had to complete a 3hr long run prescribed by Sean (my run coach and good mate), I decided to extend the invitation to a few close friends who know what it means to push boundaries and limits.
5 people showed up at 4am to begin the run.
Another 4 showed up an hour later to get a half marathon done.
With the goal of finishing the first 84.4km day alongside Sean, this training is incredibly important.
One of my biggest goals this year is to surround myself with beautiful, amazing people who push the limits.
It’s safe to say that through unofficial run club I have been able to really go deeper and deeper in the community to connect with people and find my tribe.
Moments like this morning are moments living for. Friends, together, pushing limits. Creating experiences that not everyone experiences in their lifetime
As I dig deeper and deeper into building community this year, I’m taking an active responsibility to document the journey, to share the ins and outs of what I am doing, the dark moments and the sheer moments of joy.
Building something isn’t easy and recently I shared this in an Instagram story on @itschadcohen.
There are so many things people don’t see, the not so pretty things.
waking up in the morning when no one is around to say hi and bye to.
arriving home after a 15hr day and having to eat dinner alone.
the extreme levels of risk that are taken to see something that is your own succeed.
the dark moments where you question everything that you are doing
how personal everything feels, even when it's just business
the pressure of building something in order to support more than just yourself
the extremities that you have to go through in order to support your team and those around you even when you're not having the best day. entrepreneurship is a rocky ride.
And this all hit home for a whole lot of my homies.
Connection through movement is special. If you haven’t tried it, you should.
As I step forward further and further into 2024, I am getting more and more dialled in and I’m inviting those who are holding the standard, those who are doing cool shit and those who want to achieve things that they never believed were possible to join me on my journey and I’d be grateful to join you on yours.
Together, to the moon.
